The Story Behind the Infinity Eyes
One of Grimboy's most recognisable illustrations is a pair of intense, raging eyes.
At first glance, they appear fierce.
Confrontational.
Almost intimidating.
People naturally assume they belong to a predator.
Some mythical creature.
The truth is much quieter.
They were inspired by the green tree frog.
One of nature's gentlest animals.
It's an unexpected source of inspiration, and that's precisely why it matters.
The Unlikely Inspiration
The green tree frog probably isn't the animal you'd expect to inspire a pair of raging eyes.
The idea started with a different illustration entirely: a green tree frog dancing with headphones. It was playful, a little strange and deliberately designed to make people stop for a second.
The intention was simple. Draw attention to nature in a way that felt unexpected, and hopefully spark a little curiosity about the world around us—and the environmental issues affecting it.
The eyes came later.
We took the frog and pushed the idea in a completely different direction. The final illustration is intense, but the original inspiration was anything but.
We like that contrast.
Seeing Beyond the Surface
We live in a world that rewards appearances.
We're encouraged to judge quickly.
To scroll quickly.
To decide quickly.
But the things that matter most usually reveal themselves more slowly.
A person's character.
A well-made garment.
A meaningful friendship.
A piece of art.

We hope our graphics work the same way.
At first, they're simply illustrations.
Then you discover the story behind them.
